Saint-Briac-Sur-Mer (Brittany, France)
The small port town of Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, one of Brittany’s best-kept secrets, only has one hotel. Thankfully, it’s a real corker. Friendly service, laid-back beach vibes, and reasonably priced cosy rooms make it one of our favourite places for a relaxed stay on the stunning Emerald Coast. Set in a stone house, overlooking the picture-perfect bay, the hotel is in the heart of Saint-Briac Port and only a short walk from both the beach and village centre.
The downstairs hotel bar, featuring a truly excellent selection of whiskeys and rums from around the world, is a local hangout that stays open late into the night especially in summer. Conveniently located only a few doors down from one of the Emerald Coast’s best little restaurants, Aux Deux Sardines, it’s a perfect place for a post-dinner digestif before heading upstairs to bed. The hotel’s restaurant serves a refreshingly casual menu, with beach-friendly snacks (think burgers and lobster rolls), and a popular Sunday brunch for €23 including a glass of bubbles.
Suite rooms are worth splashing out on when available featuring a large shared terrace with panoramic sea views. Breakfast is basic, but features good quality patisseries and home made cakes. Leave room for one of Brittany’s best apple tarts in Saint-Briac’s village centre, the Briacine, from the Alain Desriac’s locally renowned patisserie shop of the same name.
